In 1992, AusPress was founded (originally as Blucher Australia Pty Ltd), and at the time was the exclusive importer and distributor to Australia and New Zealand of the Blucher Drainage System which had been used for many years very successfully throughout Europe.
In 1995, AusPress became the exclusive importer and distributor to Australia and New Zealand of the Mannesman range of Mapress Stainless Steel Press-Fit system
In 2000, AusPress completed the largest project to date using stainless steel drainage; The Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane consisting of more than 30,000 metres of stainless steel drainage pipes and fittings.
In 2004, AusPress completes the first major project using press-fit stainless steel; Aurora Tower in Brisbane.
In 2005, AusPress began designing and manufacturing stainless steel channels in Adelaide, South Australia. This was done to combat excessive import freight costs and transport times and to better support the local market. AusPress continues to manufacture these same, high quality channels today and is constantly improving design and flow characteristics for its clients.
In 2008, AusPress was acquired by Tasmea Limited
In 2008, Blucher (Denmark) was acquired by Watts Water Technologies
In 2010, AusPress entered into a new distribution agreement with Isotubi in Spain to distribute their range of stainless steel press fittings and tube that they had been manufacturing under license to Geberit (Mapress) for many years. This allowed AusPress to be more competitive in the market and increase their product offerings.
In 2011, AusPress developed the first “Hygienic Channel” in Australia which was designed specifically for a key project in Melbourne. The channel consisted of a half round bottom that used proprietary manufacturing techniques to allow the channels to be formed in long sections and at gradient to allow smooth flow, fast drainage and less blockages. AusPress continues to manufacture these channels today and is constantly improving design and flow characteristics for its clients.
In 2012, AusPress were the first to introduce 168.3mm Stainless Steel press-fit pipe and fittings to Australia and New Zealand
In 2013, AusPress began investigating a new Copper Press system to add to the company’s portfolio. After 2 years of research and development, the AusPress copper press system was softly launched in 2015 to a few key clients. The product went truly national in early 2018 with key national distribution agreements and stockists in every state of Australia. AusPress is consistently growing the range of copper fittings and remain a leader in this product category.
In 2015, AusPress were the first to introduce Duplex (2205) stainless steel press-fit pipe and fittings into Australia and New Zealand.
In 2017, AusPress was required to change its name from “Blucher Australia Pty Ltd” to “AusPress Systems Pty Ltd” due to instruction from Watts Water Technologies and their corporate policy of not allowing distributors to use their trademarks.
In 2018, AusPress entered into a distribution agreement with Ostendorf Kunstoffe in Germany to distribute their range of technologically advanced Polypropylene drainage systems. beginning with KG2000 a civil piping system rated to SN10 & SN16 from 110mm to 500mm
In 2018, AusPress’ distribution agreement with Watts Water Technologies, and ultimately Blucher (Denmark) came to an end. AusPress entered into a new agreement with ACO to distribute their range of equivalent stainless steel drainage pipes and fittings in Australia.
In 2019, AusPress worked closely with ACO in Czech Republic to develop a new range of floor gullies (drain bowls) that were specifically designed for the Australian market. The new floor gullies were developed after years of local experience and months of local input from specifiers and installers to ensure the products met all Australian Standards, the Watermark scheme, are certified by HACCP and were perfectly suited to Australian conditions and installation techniques.
In 2020, AusPress were the first to introduce 400mm and 600mm square Floor Gullies (Drain bowls) as standard stock items to Australia and New Zealand opening up new design options for the food and beverage industry
In 2020, AusPress acquired the assets of Marine Equipment International (MEI) including all product distributions contracts, stock and customers. This was a key strategic move for AusPress to grow it’s marine business and for MEI to expand to a truly national distribution business.
